Almost

Well. To say the least it's been an interesting week leading up to my departure. Or rather, uninteresting. See, our power has been completely gone for the past 3 days due to a rather unfortunate temper tantrum thrown by Irene, causing more than a few telephone poles and electrical wires to be knocked down all over the eastern US. There wasn't even really any accessible internet for me until today, where I had to drive into the public library. So I've been doing a lot of reading and playing "Monty Python Flux" (a card game) with my little brother.

Oh, and also packing.

My flight leaves tomorrow night (9/1) and I fly from Philly to London to Dussledorf to Dresden. Then I have an hour train ride from Dresden to Herrnhut, where hopefully I will get picked up by nice people who will speak some English and take me to the base. I don't think they'll have any problem finding me, you know, since I'll probably stick out like a lost American...
Anyway, I packed 7 months worth of things into a medium sized suitcase, a travel backpack, a camera bag, and a carry-on backpack. All done in what daylight I had, because once the sun goes down it's back to kerosene lamps and candles for us.

I'm very excited to go (if not to at least have working light switches again...) but there are still a few things that I would love to have prayer for.

1) I still need money. Almost $3,000. I'm sure it'll come in, but all the prayer I can get for it, the better.
2) Stress, having to do with last minute things that maybe should have been taken care of earlier. Hmmm.
3) That the electricity and water would come back so that I can take a shower before I get on the plane tomorrow night. A few days without a shower = a not very good first impression...

Thanks, and next time I write I will be in Deutschland!!
